American Express secures title rights to SailGP's Hong Kong opener
American Express has signed as title sponsor of SailGP's inaugural Hong Kong event, which opens the 2027 season on Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 January. The event will run as the American Express Hong Kong Sail Grand Prix.
Hong Kong was confirmed as the season opener when SailGP published its 2027 calendar in May. The F50s will race on Victoria Harbour, with the race stadium based at Kai Tak Cruise Terminal. It will be the league's first East Asian stop since Singapore hosted a round during the 2022–23 season.
The deal is built largely around cardholder access, and the ticket schedule reflects that. Eligible American Express Cardmembers get priority booking from 10am Hong Kong time on Wednesday 21 October until 5pm on Thursday 22 October. SailGP+ members follow with a presale from 10am on Friday 23 October to 5pm on Monday 26 October. Both windows close early if allocations run out. General sale opens at 10am on Tuesday 27 October. The VELA Privé hospitality package is not included in either presale.
After Hong Kong, the championship moves to the Australia Sail Grand Prix at Bathers Bay, Fremantle, on Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 February.
