LIVE: Puerto Calero Lanzarote 52 Super Series Royal Cup
The 52 Super Series heads to Puerto Calero for the Royal Cup, and we're streaming all the racing on The Foil this week. It's the fourth of five regattas this season, and the second back-to-back event in Lanzarote after last month's Marina Rubicon.
Racing runs from Tuesday 25th August every day until Saturday 29th, kicking off at 12:00 local. (Tuesday racing has been pushed back one hour, livestream to start at 12:45).
Thirteen teams line up for one of the circuit's most storied trophies, with the standings tightening by the day. Takashi Okura's Sled lead overall but saw their run of wins end in Marina Rubicon, while Harm Müller-Spreer's Platoon Aviation, the most successful Royal Cup team in the trophy's history, sit just 17 points back with plenty of racing still to come. Jean-Luc Petithuguenin's Paprec arrive full of confidence after their maiden regatta win last time out, and Andrea Lacorte's Alkedo, runners-up in Marina Rubicon by two points, look hungry for a first win of their own.
Conditions are expected to build through the week, from manageable breeze early on to strong winds forecast for the closing days, setting up a testing finish.
