The America’s Cup isn’t a global circuit like SailGP. It’s defended until another team can take it, usually in the winner’s home waters, though Emirates Team New Zealand broke that tradition by taking the 37th edition to Barcelona in 2024. AC38 heads to Naples in 2027, marking the first time Italy hosts the Cup despite Luna Rossa’s three decades of trying to win it. The build-up will include preliminary regattas starting in 2026, followed by the Challenger Selection Series to determine which team faces the Kiwis. The Match itself – first to seven wins – is set to take place sometime in summer 2027 (northern hemisphere).
