There's no venue quite like it. F50s foiling past the Statue of Liberty, the southern tip of Manhattan looming behind the startline, ferries and debris cluttering the Hudson River like obstacles in a video game. This is SailGP at its most ultra-urban, one of the original 2019 stops and still the circuit's defining postcard shot.
The racing itself rewards adaptability over outright pace. Tidal currents rip through unpredictably, wind shadows bounce between buildings, and the breeze has a habit of going from hero to zero without much warning. That said, New York can produce proper breeze when it wants to – the last edition delivered strong wind on Day 2 that caught several teams out. Either way, it's a venue where errors tend to multiply; small mistakes rarely stay small for long.
For the American team, this is the venue that matters most and hurts the deepest. The home crowd, the skyline, the spotlight – and a long history of failing to deliver when it counts. Another underwhelming performance with the Manhattan skyline as backdrop would sting.
Past winners: Japan (Season 1), New Zealand (Season 4), Spain (Season 5)

Chaos reigns on opening day of SailGP New York
New York was supposed to be the big one, and in a way it was – just not for the reasons anyone wanted. A gusty, blustery Hudson, with a peak of 36 knots clocked, made craning the F50s in and out of the water a genuine hazard, and...
Racing at risk at New York SailGP
The apple is certainly big today, so much so that it has forced a change to Saturday’s New York SailGP plans. Racing has officially moved 30 minutes later in an effort to slot the racing into a more favourable weather window, but...

No practice racing in New York for SailGP
